Neumarktpassage and Kreissparkasse Cologne

The new building for Sparkasse Cologne and the shopping arcade Neumarkt/Richmodstraße were built in 1990 by the Cologne architect, Hans Schilling, his son, Johannes Schilling and the architect Thomas Kostulski.  Over 5,000 m²  of Obernkirchen Sandstein® was used for the facade of the bank and for diverse surfaces in the shopping arcade.

The predominantly bush-hammered surfaces, in combination with strips of pointed surfaces, segmental arches over passages and windows, and small niches and walkways, give visitors the impression of being in a historical arcade rather than a recently developed construction.
